Danielle Parra, MA, AMFT
-
Danielle’s work with children began early, as she dedicated her time to volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters throughout her teenage years and into college. Following graduation, she gained hands-on experience working in daycare settings and as a nanny while completing her Early Childhood Education (ECE) units. She went on to teach preschool and kindergarten in a Montessori environment, an experience that deepened her commitment to supporting children’s development and inspired her to pursue advanced training.
Danielle earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Dominican University in San Rafael, California. During her graduate training, she worked extensively with adolescents and their families across multiple school settings in Santa Rosa. She later served as a School Counseling Mental Health Coordinator at a K–12 charter school, where she coordinated mental health services, conducted assessments, and facilitated both individual and group counseling interventions. These diverse experiences have equipped her with a broad and nuanced understanding of child and adolescent development across a wide age range.
Danielle has long been driven by a desire to support individuals and families in strengthening their relationships and fostering healthy, resilient family systems. She is committed to creating a nurturing, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where clients can express themselves authentically. Drawing from play therapy, art therapy, and sand tray techniques, she helps clients build emotional awareness, develop self-regulation skills, and cultivate a sense of inner calm while enhancing the quality of their relationships.
Her clinical approach is grounded in evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Attachment Theory. When working with children and adolescents, Danielle actively collaborates with parents and caregivers to ensure that progress is meaningful, sustainable, and supported beyond the therapy setting.
Danielle is currently pursuing certification to further specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This training emphasizes a strength-based perspective and provides a comprehensive framework for supporting clients and their families. She anticipates completing her ADHD-CCSP certification by the end of 2026.
Danielle is deeply passionate about supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families throughout their mental health journeys, with the goal of helping them thrive in all areas of life.
