Taylor Vulk, AMFT

Taylor’s passion for supporting children and families began early, through her leadership as President of the Best Buddies Club at Napa High School. In this role, she helped peers with intellectual and developmental disabilities build meaningful friendships and social confidence—an experience that sparked her deep commitment to helping young people feel seen, supported, and connected.
She went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from UC Davis, continuing her work with Best Buddies and strengthening her dedication to serving her community. After graduating, Taylor worked at a local non-profit supporting adults with severe mental illness, where she developed skills in emotional support, communication, and social development. This experience inspired her to pursue more specialized, relationship-focused work, leading her to earn her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Dominican University of California in San Rafael.
Taylor has extensive experience working directly with children and families. In a school-based setting in Marin County, she provided therapy to elementary-aged children using play therapy, narrative techniques, and cognitive behavioral strategies. She supported children facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, emotional regulation difficulties, and peer or family relationship struggles—always tailoring her approach to meet each child at their developmental level.
She also served as an emergency response clinician for Napa County, where she supported children and families during times of crisis. In this role, Taylor provided compassionate assessments and practical guidance, helping families navigate difficult situations with clarity and care. Her work emphasized building trust, strengthening family relationships, and connecting families with the resources they need.
Today, Taylor is a psychotherapist in private practice, where she specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families. She creates a warm, safe, and engaging environment where children can express themselves through play and build skills to manage emotions, increase confidence, and improve relationships.
Taylor now specializes in treating children ages 0–5 after graduating from the 2024–2025 Napa Infant-Parent Mental Health Fellowship, expanding her expertise in supporting young children and their caregivers. This specialized training in early development and attachment also strengthens her work with clients of all ages, helping her better understand how early experiences shape emotions, relationships, and overall well-being across the lifespan.
She believes deeply in every child’s capacity to grow, heal, and thrive. Her approach is grounded in play therapy, along with cognitive behavioral, narrative, and family systems techniques—always with a focus on helping children and families feel more connected, understood, and empowered.
